Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while speaking on the inauguration of the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, described Operation Sindoor as something greater than a military operation—it was, he said, "a powerful assertion of India's political, strategic, and national will."
Addressing virtually at the function, Shri Singh underscored that the operation conveyed a definitive message: India is resolute in the face of terrorism and will take action firmly to defend its citizens. "The operation showcased the unshakeable resolve of our Armed Forces and meted out justice to the victims of terror inflicted by anti-India elements," he stated.
Emphasizing India's persistent and strong stance, the Defence Minister compared with past firm decisions such as the surgical strikes after Uri, air strikes after Pulwama, and the recent strikes against multiple targets after the attack at Pahalgam. He reiterated that "New India", led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, adheres to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and will never be afraid to retaliate outside if national security is compromised.
Shri Singh mentioned that Operation Sindoor targeted specifically terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, with great care being exercised to prevent civilian casualties. In comparison, he said, Pakistan retaliated by targeting civilian areas in India, even trying to attack places of worship. "Despite provocation, our forces exercised courage and discipline, launching targeted counterattacks that penetrated deep into enemy territory—including Rawalpindi, the seat of Pakistan's military command," he said.
Referring to the BrahMos facility, the Raksha Mantri characterized it as a major milestone for India's drive towards self-reliance in defence production. He added that the new centre will not only improve the technological competence of India but also provide worthwhile employment opportunities to the area. Inauguration, on National Technology Day, marks India's increasing innovation profile and rising footing in frontier defence technologies globally.
